AHS building blocks

AHS

AHS is our child care centre located in a portable next to Parkside Elementary, providing full time quality family-centred care for Indigenous children ages 3-5.

Who benefits from Aboriginal Head Start? The benefits of AHS for Indigenous children and families has been well documented. Independent research has shown that the program not only provides children with a ‘head start’ in life, but is also a ‘family wellness’ program that holistically impacts staff, families and communities across the country. As AHS grows in reach and effectiveness, it provides even greater opportunities for healing the effects of Residential Schools and empowering Indigenous people from an early age.
